According to the American Society of Anesthesiologists, providing simple written instructions may increase patient compliance with medication use. A recent study, presented at ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2016 (click here to read synopsis), showed a significant increase in patients’ proper use of pre-operative medications when they were provided with simple written instructions.
The study’s findings echo similar research that has demonstrated the effectiveness of simple instructions. When written at a level that is easily understandable by the lay public, these materials can improve patient health and safety.
