Simple Written Instructions Improve Patient Compliance

According to the American Society of Anesthesiologists, providing simple written instructions may increase patient compliance with medication use.  A recent study, presented at ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2016 (click here to read synopsis), showed a significant increase in patients’ proper use of pre-operative medications when they were provided with simple written instructions.

The study’s findings echo similar research that has demonstrated the effectiveness of simple instructions. When written at a level that is easily understandable by the lay public, these materials can improve patient health and safety.

MLMIC supports the efforts of healthcare providers to ensure that patients receive pertinent medical information in a format that promotes both understanding and compliance with all aspects of their plan of care and medication administration.
