Software Engineer – OnBase
MLMIC Insurance Company (a Berkshire Hathaway Company) is based in New York state and has specialized in providing professional liability insurance for NY physicians since 1975. After operating independently and as a mutual insurance company for most of its existence, MLMIC was purchased by Berkshire Hathaway in the fall of 2018.
We continue to be the most significant writer of professional medical liability insurance in the State of New York. We provide insurance for physicians, NPs, PAs, dentists, and hospitals.

We are currently seeking candidates for a remote Software Engineer position. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated professional who can work independently with a moderate level of supervision. Primary Responsibilities:
This role will be primarily responsible for technical expertise and support of the OnBase platform for MLMIC. To accomplish this, you will have:
- Experience with first and second-tier support for the user community
- Proficiency in implementing OnBase workflow / Workview processes
- Experience with troubleshooting and resolving issues
- Proficiency in C# and .NET development
- Provide support for environmental refresh and system upgrades
- Capable of business needs and designing specifications accordingly
- Capable of analyzing business needs and designing specifications accordingly
- Capable of following complex instructions for successful migration of code changes from dev through to production
- Team player, ability to reach out to team members, or members of other disciplines within the IT department, for help and assistance
- Keep current on new and changing technologies specific to the Hyland OnBase platform
- Partner with team members to provide OnBase specific technical and design guidance before, during, and after projects
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in OnBase Administration
- Experience in configuring, designing, and deploying OnBase solutions in a complex enterprise-wide implementation
- OnBase Unity development (.Net, C#), and OnBase API knowledge as it applies to a typical OnBase implementation
- Moderate skills working with relational database management systems, specifically in MS SQL and Oracle a plus
- Computer science degree or related field required; 5+ years relevant experience can substitute
- Experience with C#/.NET and C++
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or in a comparable position
- Self-motivated critical thinker with the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, and raise concerns when tasks run behind, or are met with technical challenges
- Experienced in SQL database interactions
- Excellent collaboration skills, applied successfully within a team environment
- Speak and write with ease, clarity, and impact, using a communication style appropriate to the subject and audience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hyland OnBase certifications in Administration, Workflow, and Workview
- Working experience with OnBase Integrations & Automations
- Working experience with JavaScript, VB Script, and REST API
- Working knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum)
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics
