Summer 2015 Case Review Now Available

The Summer 2015 edition of Case Review – a review of case studies for MLMIC-insured physicians and facilities – is now available for reading online. Both case studies in this edition involve the “loss of chance” legal doctrine (they allege that issues with diagnosis and its timing were “substantial factors” in causing injuries). Specifically, these case studies address:

  • a 41-year-old female diagnosed with infiltrating duct cell carcinoma of the left breast (case study #1); and
  • a 46-year-old male smoker with headaches, facial pain, dysphagia, severe throat pain and a history of prior sinus surgery (case study #2).

Both case studies include a legal and risk management perspective.
