The Foundations of Insurance Program, launched by MLMIC Insurance Company and MedPro Group, seeks to diversify talent in the insurance and risk management industries by broadening awareness of career opportunities.
Statistics show there is approximately 20% diversity within the insurance industry due to several potential barriers to entry, such as:
- lack of exposure to the industry;
- lack of early networking opportunities;
- lack of practical experience through paid internships or work study programs; and
- lack of education on the industry.
Our initiative tackles these barriers and includes informational sessions on campus at St. John’s University in Queens, New York. The program will be led by MLMIC and MedPro insurance experts and will offer individual coaching, plus an onsite immersion experience at our Princeton office.
The immersion day will focus on professional development and networking, and will include a personality typology workshop, a career development panel and a professional headshot session. Finally, students will have the opportunity to interview for paid summer internships with MLMIC.
