There are soon to be new rules for dentists. Governor Cuomo has approved a bill that adds dentists’ offices to the sites that are included in state law regulating telemedicine. Telehealth – which uses electronic communication and technology to allow healthcare providers to communicate, interact with and treat patients when they aren’t in the same place (e.g. a smartphone appointment with your doctor) – has been identified as one way to cut down on healthcare costs and increase access to care in more remote areas.

As the regulations develop, we’ll keep you posted on possible implications. In the meantime, you can review information about the bill (S.4182-A / A.7369) at the NYSDA blog.
