New ADA toolkit aims to reduce credentialing delays for dentists; encourages payers to adopt provisional credentialing policies
As part of continued efforts to address credentialing delays — a common administrative burden dentists face — the American Dental Association has released a new provisional credentialing toolkit for payers. Through the toolkit, which was approved by the ADA Council on Dental Benefit Programs in May, the ADA encourages payers to adopt provisional credentialing policies that allow qualified dentists to begin treating plan members while final credentialing requirements are completed.

Navigating the Boundaries Between Oral Health and Mental Health
As dentistry focuses more on treating the patient and not just the mouth, clinicians must balance recognizing the links between oral and systemic health with practicing within their professional competence. The relationship between oral health and overall well-being has never been more apparent and a paradigm shift has occurred in dentistry in which the emphasis has moved away from just treating the mouth to treating the whole person. Student loan changes ahead? ADA’s new guide can help navigate a changing borrowing landscape
The ADA is introducing a new Student Loan Resource Guide to help dental students and their families understand significant changes to federal student aid programs that take effect July 1.
The online toolkit outlines provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that affect graduate and professional student borrowing, including the termination of the federal Grad PLUS loan program and new annual and lifetime borrowing limits for professional students.

Meet the Miniature Robot That Could Transform Crown Preparation
Researchers have developed a prototype intraoral robot designed to prepare teeth for crowns with exceptional accuracy, potentially reducing treatment time and the number of patient visits.
A crown preparation completed by a miniature robot may sound like science fiction, but researchers at the University of Basel are bringing the concept closer to clinical reality. Engineers have developed the miniature intraoral robot (MIR), a compact robotic device designed to scan and prepare a tooth for a dental crown during a single appointment. Roughly the size of a wine cork, the prototype fits comfortably inside the patient’s mouth and moves with the patient if they shift during treatment.
