MLMIC Board of Directors Elects New Chairman and New President

At MLMIC’s Board of Directors Meeting on May 3, Dr. Robert Menotti affirmed his previously announced retirement as President and Chairman of the Company.  He has served in that capacity for the past 10 years and was instrumental in building the Company’s financial and operational strength while keeping the interests of the policyholders first.  Dr. Menotti will remain on the Board and continue to serve as a member of the Executive Committee going forward.

Dr. James Reed was elected Chairman of the Board.  Dr. Reed is a family physician from Albany, NY, and is currently the President and CEO of St. Peter’s Health Partners, a health system in Albany, NY.  Dr. Reed has been on MLMIC’s board since 2005, served as the Company’s Vice President and Treasurer, and chaired its Finance Committee, which oversees the Company’s investments.  His years of experience in planning and governance matters will be invaluable to the Board and the Company going forward.

Dr. John Lombardo was elected President of the Company.  Dr. Lombardo is an ophthalmologist from Bay Ridge, NY.  He has been on MLMIC’s Board since 2004.  He has actively served on the Company’s Executive Committee, Claims Committee, Peer Review Committee and Patient Safety Committee for many years.  His experience will be instrumental in overseeing the operations of the Company and its staff.

Please join us in thanking Dr. Menotti for his years of dedicated service and in welcoming Drs. Reed and Lombardo to their leadership positions.  As always, they will be guided by what’s in the best long term interest of our policyholders.
