School-based Health Centers Reopen in New York After Advocacy of NYSDA and Others

School-based Health Centers, an important source of primary, dental and mental healthcare for New York students, are officially open again after a lengthy mandated shutdown due to COVID-19. The reopening is largely thanks to the advocacy of the New York State Dental Association and other organizations in the state.

Effective October 5, 2017, the Department of Health adopted an emergency regulation to allow certain types of facilities to become designated caregivers for patients who are certified to receive medical marijuana under New York State’s Medical Marijuana Program.
